I have been running with no windshield for years. Partly because of the apes but mostly because of the buffeting. Longer trips would be nice with some wind relief. Is the recurve the real deal?
I have a Clearview recurve on my Road Glide, after three windshields, finally found one that give me nice clean air in the face with no buffetting at all. So, yea, it works for me!
Batwing here and yes it does work. I have the same wind protection with a 9.5" w/ recurve as with the stock 12" and no buffeting. The 9.5" is well below my line of sight unlike the 12" stock which was directly in the middle of my line of sight. Also, Clearview will let you mount and test ride the shield and return it if it isn't right for you as long as you don't remove the protective film. They are the only company I have ever heard of that will allow you to actually try the shield.
8" Clearview recurve on my bike works like a charm. The top of the shield is well under my line of sight, and the air stream is pushed just over the top of my helmet.
The clearview GT Small works for me on my Road Glide. I can see over top. It's not in my line of sight like the stock shield. I get enough breeze so I am comfotable in the warm weather and no buffeting at any speed. I might jump for a taller shield if I planned on doing a lot of real cold weather riding but for me the GT Small is the best all around shield I have found.
Clearview is a great company to do business with. They will spend time with you on the phone helping you pick the right shield for your bike.
17" Clearview on my RK. Three years and it looks and works fine. I don't believe they sell frames. If you have a frame, call and ask if they have a fitment.
When I ordered in summer got my shield in 3 days. Forum member advised ordering a blem. Paid a little less. Very small scratch below frame and in stock for quick delivery.
I don't know that I can tell a lot of difference with my Clearview. It doesn't do anything at all with the wind coming up from under the fairing. It looks good though.

I've got a Clearview +2 on my RG - works pretty well, but I'm still catching strong wind at the very top of my head and from below the fairing. It's a well made shield. While it won't solve the lower wind, I may go up a size - being 6'6" I look over this shield....and probably the next one too. I've tried a few different shields and this one is the best so far.
