well if there was wear on the inside of the fender then there you have it.. Ignore the other kybd cowboy wanna be mechanics here .. Im surprised they didnt tell you it was the rear fender even though the noise was coming from the front

If it sounds that bad and the problem was the tire rubbing on the fender, I would think there should be some wear marks on the tire-did you look for that? Just thinking out loud, so to speak.
