I just purchased the V&H monster ovals and a Ness big sucker. I watched a video on the big sucker install, that seems pretty easy. Can someone let me know about the slip-ons. I have stock on now, how hard is it to remove the stock and hook up the MO.
Any helpful hints would be great.

I have a 07 Street Glide.

You will need fuel management as well, like a Powercommander, SERT, etc. Putting the slipons is fine with the stock AC, but adding an aftermarket highflow AC without some sort of fuel management may potentially lead to damaging something because you will be running leaner than stock, which is already pretty damn lean.

Forgot to mention I have a V&H fuel pak already installed on bike. Will remap with correct settings when complete.

the slip ons are even easier the the big sucker, it's literally 2 bolts and 1 muffler clamp per side... go take your saddle bags off and take a look, you'll see what I'm talking about.

*the only hints I can offer is spray some wd 40 where the muffler meets the header and once they're on either level your bike on a jack or have somebody hold it straight because depending on how **** you are about your mufflers being on there straight it can be a real pain in the *** getting them lined up evenly.

I know nothing about monster ovals - assume they just bolt up like other slipons. The stock slipons have two bolts on the top to hang them on the saddle bag "frame" and the clamp, that's it. The clamps are supposed to be one use only, but I have reused mine several times with no issue. They are pretty cheap though - your call. I would blue locktite the mounting bolts.

Don't have any familiarity with the big sucker, but it probably came with a new backing plate, right? You will probably need a gasket that goes between the throttle body and the new backing plate - hopefully they supplied one, or at least told you which one to buy. You may or may not need o-rings for the oil vent lines, again, not sure how the big sucker mounts or deals with the oil vent lines.

Hope that helps some. Someone else who has this combo of parts may be able to help more.

I did the same mods as you...but through plenty of research, I knew I had to "richen" the AFR to make it effective. The MO's are probably the easiest mechanical object to remove and install on your bike. Three bolts...pull them off...and replace and tighten. Done!

The Big Sucker is also very easy...basic hand tools only.

But...my advise is to get a Power Commander V from Fuel Moto.

Good luck...

Tighten and re-tighten the muffler clamps a couple times both hot and cold.
Clean the mufflers real well before starting to get rid of finger prints, etc.

Enjoy your new parts, I did pretty much the same stage1 you're doing and the FuelPak works great, mind you I'm not doing any other mods such as cams etc. Your bike might pop and spit for a second when you first start it after the install. Very happy with mine

Use some Hi-Temp Silicone RTV when you put your slipons on...makes them much easier to change out later and will seal any leaks.....just my 2 centavos.
