I recently changed my bars on my 08 Road King and after getting everything back together the throttle isn't as responsive all the time, the cruise control will not set and the check engine light is on. Occasionally when I twist the throttle the engine will hardly rev up at all, but its not all the time. The light for the cruise will turn on orange but will not turn to green and set the speed. When I was pulling the new extended TBW through the bar I accidentally pulled off the end connection block. I then compared the loose wires to the stock TBW and slid them back into the connection block. They slid back into the block and wouldn't come out but did seem sort of loose. Just wondering if I need to get a new TBW or if my issue is because of something else that I haven't done. Thanks in advance
You have a loose wire somewhere. Probably like you said in the TBW. I ended up wrapping the green connector with electrical tape before pulling it through the bars. I would go back over your work with a fine tooth comb. Sounds like you at least have an idea as to were it is (TBW). Good luck.
when i did my bar change i hard wired everything with a soldering iron the second time. i had pinched wires on the right grip took it all apart and found bare wires. look close cuz they are hard to see some people use super glue for the tbw plug box. i would suggest soldering it but give yourself a little extra wire in case u need to go back in later. your throttle is in limp mode at this point. good luck
Why does the title read "Throttle by Wire and Cruise Control problem"? It should read "Another handlebar change wiring job done poorly and I wanna blame the TBW" Sorry if that offends you honda but 99% of every posting I read that blames the TBW for being crappy always has a handlebar change and wiring job done by the owner and they always say " I did it perfectly, can't be what I did!" I am certain, honda, that if you look at everything you touched when you did the wiring that is where the problem is. Good luck!
qtrracer....Is it really necessary to be such an a$$ hole? I know alot of the people on this forum are perfect and know everything about bikes but let the rest of us learn and help us out if we need it. If you are just going to complain about the questions dont bother with an answer.
I have installed the cruise control on my HD Electraglide Classic 07 and followed the instructiion that came with it and also read the manual along with the install that I ordered from HD. I have done the Cable lash initialization by the book and it worked just like it says in the book. when I test road the byke and used the set the orange turned to green but the cruise does not set the speed. I am wondering if I missed something or is there another step that I need to do? Just need a little guiding light.
qtrracer I'm not blaming the TBW at all. Maybe you should re read the question a few times.....think about it, then re read it again to make sure you understand what I am asking.
