Default riding without new map

i put a PCV on the bike a month ago from Fuelmoto to cool it off. (08 Ultra) but had not done the air clear or pipes for the complete stage 1. I ordered the AC and jackpot mufflers last Thursday and put them on last night but haven't gotten the new map yet, will I hurt the bike if I ride with the old map? I am really wanting to hear the new pipes...lol.

i ran a thunder header 2:1 and a stage 1 air cleaner for a while without a tuner. They don't recomend it but you can crank it and hear it. It won't run like its supposed to from what I understand!

The new map take seconds to download, Fuel Moto will send you the map you need.

I agree it probably won't run right, also agree should be easy to go ahead and load the new map, but I doubt if it will hurt it for a short run. The PC V probably has it richened up a little. The new A/C will likely just bring the fuel mix back close to stock.

I tend to take the more cautious route. I wouldn't run it until the map is installed especially since it is so easy/quick to get it done.

Map came late today, I installed it this evening and rode about 10 miles, I am very pleased so far. Jackpots sound great, mellow at take off, mild at cruising speeds and really bark when I get on it. They have my vote!

I used to think the power commander maps were very specialized, and unless you had the right one, your bike wouldn't run right.

I bought a PCV for my bike earlier this year because I was planning a cam change, and the fuelpak I had didn't really have any settings for the cams I was planning. I added the autotune when I was able to pick one up for a reasonable price. When I first got the PCV, it was loaded for the configuration I had at the time, which was stock cams in a 07 police RK. The bike ran pretty well with the base map, although fuel mileage was worse than I'd been getting with the fuelpak. However, a bigger problem was that the autotune was actually making the bike run worse. A short time later, I got my cam swap done, with SE204 cams and 1.725 rockers. I emailed my vendor for a new map, and was provided one, which I installed into the PCV. The bike ran ok, it was making lots more power than the stock cams, and I wasn't getting any backfiring or missing. Still, though, the autotune wasn't able to get the bike dialed in, and after running for a bit, would still make the bike run worse.

After a frustrating couple of weeks, it was determined that the stock y-pipe was causing reversion at the rear O2 sensor, and the O2 readings at the rear cylinder were being thrown off by exhaust gasses from the front cylinder. During this time, I realized that the second map that was sent to me (for the new cams) was exactly the same as the first map (for stock cams). Same fuel tables, same timing table. No changes at all. So apparantly, these power commander maps aren't quite as precise as we think they are.
