+1 on the ICE. Carry a few zip locks. Before ya leave, ice down. At fuel up, ice down. Stop to eat, ice down. Best to ice till numb (about 20 minutes). That'll reduce inflamation and subsequently increase circulation, which promotes healing.

Rode to SD and back with a torn ligament in my elbow (KNEW it about the time we hit Iowa). I was an ice fukin FIEND for 10 days but it worked very very well, was free, and could get it everywhere. Didn't impare my driving either.

Default No sympathy here!

Just judging by your avatar, your bike and the fact that you thought a taxi van would have a bench seat in the back, I'm going to go way out on a limb here and take a wild guess that you're an old fart who doesn't feel those urges very often and does kinda dumb things like that when they happen.

So smarten up, eh?

OK so I find that if I put my left foot up on the highway peg, lean back and put my left hand on the left saddle bag guard and straighten my left arm from my shoulder to my wrist and set the cruise I can take almost all the weight off my a$$ for long stretches. You don't want to do this in heavy traffic, deer crossings or other occasions when you're more likely to need to grab a handfull of clutch in a hurry but it sure works good to give your butt a break without looking like you're waving your crotch at everyone. Oh and it only works when you're solo.

Just my thoughts and $ .1
Thanks man. Yeah, I am thinking other than advil and just dealing with it...time is the only real solution.

LORTAB One every four hours and call me in the morning...eh if you ever wake up
No worse pain other than when I ruptured the disc in L4 and L5 of my lower back, now it is a double stack of memory foam on the seat and a set of seat beads!
Feel for ya brother hang in there.

I picked a AirHawk on ebay for $79 like new. Works great. Make sure you use it with the least amount of air you can.

An alternative idea of the medical foam donuts is that you can get an 8-inch garden tractor tire tube from a home supply store. I use one for my rigid. The trick is to keep your tailbone "floating" during bumps It works.

Default Try a towel

A back rest would definitely help, but try a good towel. Fold it in thirds and place it long ways on the seat with the excess over the passenger seat. It really helps and keeps the moister away from the buttesimo muscle.
