Default tips to remove fairing for stereo install

I am getting a 2010 RG soon. I have ordered a Biketronics kit with stereo, speakers, handlebar controls, etc. I'm trying to get detailed info on how much work it is to remove fairing components to access mounting the stereo/speakers. Any links out there, or would getting a Service Manual do the trick? I've done several car stereo installs, and understand the complexities of wiring and grounding. I guess I just need to know how much of the fairing to remove.

Thanks for the help,
Carcass

I've had my fairing off over 20 times in 3 years.

1. Remove front blinker nuts. 2 on both sides.
2. Let the blinkers hang carefully.
3. Remove six screws. 3 on each side of inner fairing.
4. COVER THE FRONT FENDER
5. Grab the fairing from the front and pull it up and off the mounting hooks.
6. Unplug the headlight and set the fairing aside.

Getting it back on is a trick. I leave the headlight out until after the fairing is back on. This way I can see the mounting hooks.

Can anyone add to my directions? Did I miss anything?

Had mine off many times also.
I have to give the fairing a quick tug up to get it to release.May take a couple tries.I place my hands on the sides of the fairing, gut against the headlight.
I dont remove the headlight or windsheild.
Installing may be a little more tricky for some.I've had mine off so many times,I know where the hooks are.
Make sure the side tabs are placed correctly before installing the screws.

Where are the mounting hooks located? and how do you put the light in afterwards?

Go to fixmyhog.com and you`ll find excellent video of R&R ing the fairing. It`s a piece of cake and you can do it alone. I would add to watch the tabs on the sides to make sure they are aligned properly. The gentleman making the videos really does a good job. Just don`t know why he calls the Road Glide a bat wing. It`s easy to find the mounts with the headlights in. Also make note of 2 screws that are longer than the rest.

It`s also a good time to fix the problem with the radio brackets chafing into the fairing. You can find this in a search or ask me and I`ll send you some pics. I sent the pics to the Harley rep and am waiting to see what they want to do. If left unfixed the brackets will saw thru the fairing at windshield.

Be careful of the mounting screws when putting the faring back on.
If you over tighten them on the front side, they can come loose on the back side.
If you have the "fix my hog" video, it has a section on removing and installing the faring.

If they are over tightened, the plastic holes will strip in the outer fairing.
