I press and hold the resume witch for a the two/ three seconds then let go... red light turns green and speed is held... if I touch either brake or pull clutch, cruise shuts down and red light comes on again = waiting for me to set desired speed again....
Doesn't your cruise have a SET switch? I pull the switch to set it vs. using resume. Resume on mine only works once I've already set a speed with the cruise and bike on with set. Ie Cruising along at 45 use SET to set the speed, stop for light, cruise kicks off. Leave light, get up to 4th, press resume at 40, and the bike picks up speed until it's at 45.
I stand corrected... I meant to say I press the switch in the "Set" position and hold for the 2/3 seconds... sorry for the confusion...
I found my problem after tracing all module circuits. Brake, yes brake. I forgot to remove the 5/32 piece of cardboard from the brake hand grip that is used to protect the seal when you remove the brake control. The brake circuit was activated and as a result caused this headache. The things one does when everything isn't checked. Wanderer I hope your problem is this simple. Check to make sure your brake lights aren't on, also your roll off switch is set probably. it should be open( infinity) and when you roll off the throttle as in the instructions it should have continuity. Good Luck
Thanks to everyone who tried to assist. It is appreciated.
Good deal rm4040......been checking the connectors and they all are good.....unfortunately...I removed my brake spacer and checked my brakes to make sure they were'nt on. But my next item was the rollback.....
Oh by the way....when I set cruise pwr sw ON and use SET on handgrip.....I do get the green icon....so that works....and when I move it to RESUME....the light stays green.....but once you release.....its all red ....
Might have to check my throttle cables, make sure they are right.
On the initialization, when the resume was pushed forward and engine started my green light came on and went out and when I released and pushed again and held it, the RPM went up as the slack was taken out of the cable. Just to let you know what to expect.
rm4040.....thanks for the info......still having trouble, might be the roll-off.....what did you check or reset to clear up the trottle roll-off....right now not sure where to check....but the roll-off is probably the culprit.....need help on this..
If you have tech manual go to idle cable adjust for cruise control for roll off adjust. If not.....
Go to the module and disconnect harness, adjust idle cable to full slack, place ohmmeter probe on the violet/yellow and orange/violet leads on connector plug. It should read infinity. Now adjust idle cable grip to about .06 " play. With the meter still hooked up, apply force to grip to decrease play or roll off. It should now read continuity on the meter. When you roll on the throttle it will read infinity again. Make sure you do this in all positions of handle bar lock to lock.
Bottom line.... infinity when your hand is off the throttle ....continuity when you apply pressure to throttle at it's resting place.. Adjust free play untill this happens.
