No, it does not affect ground clearance. I went with the Progressive because 1) I have a Rivco centre stand that I use all the time in the Garage and based on this forum their link would work with a centre stand and 2) because it was Progressive with whom I have had good dealing over the years.
Nope, no ground clearance issues. The link does add some additional vibration. I added a velva ride front mount and made sure my exhaust mounts weren't stressed and the vibration is at acceptable levels, for me.
No reason for it on the new frame and engine mounting.
You're not the first I've heard say this, but I somewhat disagree. I put 13K miles on my 08 SG before it was totaled in a wreck. I notice a little difference in the handling on my 09 SG, but it can still get squirrely in the rear end when taking long sweeping curves around 60mph.
That said, I have never...never felt any rear-end squirrelly-ness in either my 09 Ultra, 09 SG, or 10 RG. In long sweepers on smooth pavement, loaded up or not, nothing but pure tracking bliss. I'm a former sportbike/track guy who is ultra sensitive to handling. These newer bikes don't need any rear stabilizer.
Now long sweepers on uneven pavement, Yes, you'll get minor oscillations, but that is not the fault of the bike, it's the suspension (vertical) reacting, absorbing. That is pretty much normal....
I know I will not be buying any stabilizer for any of my new bikes. Don't need them, In my opinion.
