Default TBW issues and Apes.

I keep hearing about issues with the "green" connector coming apart and generally causing nightmares when trying to route wiring through the bars. So fo those that have been through this, what is the best way to avoid these issues. I apologize if there is already a thread on this but I couldn't find the specific info. on a search.

I wrapped mine with electrical tape. Didn't have any problems at all.

There are several companies including Harley that make wiring kits that don;t have the green connector in the handlebars. Maybe Dawg can chime in with the HD part #

The one good thing about running wires inside the bars is that from that time forward whenever you have electrical problems(and you will eventually) you will know EXACTLY where to look, the internal wiring inside the handlebars!!!!!

Default TBW extension

I just cut one end off of the extension and cut the other end of the TBW section, soldered it, insulated it and pulled it through the bars. The cruise, signal, stereo control wire bundle leaves very little room for the green plug to be used. We tried the install with the green plugs (taped together) and we still managed to pull them apart. Didn't know we pulled them apart until we tried starting the bike and got a flashing cruise light and no throttle response.

I just installed 16" apes on my EGC this weekend and used srink tubeing on everything. Let me say this, its hard to stuff 2 lbs of wire thru a 1 lb hole. It couldn't have been done without a jar of vasoline. Job complete and everything still works. I was sweating bullets on this one. After you splice 12" of wire, it makes a pretty good sise bundle to pull thru. The srink tubeing realy works good.

If internally wiring bars, use 32310-08 which is the TBW sensor specifically designed for this without the green clip.

That's a great idea BQ! Then by doing that you save room and it makes it easy to get the bundle through...
