Default Horn Problems "help"

The horn on my 06 FLHT all of a sudden got much quiter then it was before. I went out and got a louder one and same thing. Seems very quiet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe the wiring loose or corroded somewhere along its' length, or the horn relay is is failing. I'd check to see if the horn is getting a full 12 volts with a volt meter.

GROUND. sounds like a bad ground. run a ground wire directly to your batt.

Are you running the stock horn cover? I put the airwing on mine and it screws up the harmonics on the horn. Works fine laying in my hand, hardly works at all when installed. I had to fab a new bracket inside so that it's not mounted to the airwing cover. I even bought a new horn and it did the same thing.

Another great HD idea.

Yeah Stock cover. Mine seems the same, in my hand it sounds fine when i mount it to the cover it sounds sick. Any pics of the bracket you made?

I think valvestem is right on target. Also check your connections on the back of the horn. There is an adjustment screw on the back of the horn to change the pitch and sometimes that will make it louder. Did it get super wet? Mine did and for a week was very feeble. I just kept blowing the horn until it got louder.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but starting in 06 moco installed a quite mode switch for the horns. Something about noise pollution and bitchy politicians.

Seriously like everyone said I go with the ground.

Not the ground. I checked it with a meter. When the horn is in my hand it sounds fine. When its mounted tight in the cover its very quiet. Something about the harmonics. I'll try the adjustment screw.
