I had to take the heel shifter off my new '08 Street Glide before leaving the dealer. I have size 14 EE feet and hit an upshift twice just riding around in the parking lot being sure the bars and levers were where I wanted them before riding 120 miles home. The dealer took if off and put the chrome cap on. Later, I did not like the shifter so far inside so I put a spring-loaded spaceron. Soft-Brake# SB ESS for $20.00. Takes 5 minutes to install and puts the shifter back out where it was. Save the heel shifter, it is the same for the front position and you might need it one day!
What the heck is going on? This original post was in 2006. Who brought this back? Anyway if you have a big foot and like the heel shifter use the Kuryakyn E-Z shift. Here is what it does to a size 14 boot.
