06 road king classic high idle problem
was wondering if someone could help me out. I have a 2006 road king classic brand new in 06 from dealer i had stage 1 with air cleaner and s&s slip on mufflers with catylist and remap dealer installed at time of purchase about 3 months later changed slip ons with other s&s with no catylist about 1 1/2 years later had high idle problem when stopped took about 20 seconds to come down to normal. brought back to dealer they re-flashed map did not do any thing. I brought to a different dealer they saw problem contacted H-D corp. engineering they then mapped bike with a race tune. a year later got worse high idle would take approx. 30 seconds to come down. now its to the point where after warmed up in first gear it will run at 12 mph on flat ground for quite a while. this happens no matter what gear im in. pulling clutch in, quikly reving motor does nothing. but while riding even at speed and during problem of high idle if I shut engine off then back on it returns to normal for a little while. i did read something about 8 degree injectors on 06 bikes they are changing them to 25 degree and I checked I have the 8 degree. can anybody help I would appreciate it. The injector issue usually caused stumbling, not high idle. Anyhow, I'd change out your injectors if you have the older style. Try cleaning your IAC. If that doesn't work, replace the stepper motor.
