replaceing 96 jugs with 103 and bolting on 255 cams.No head work except thinking alot about mcr holes drilled.
Read on hear that this adds a little compression and tightens it up a bit...a worth while thing to do while im in there but dont want to get over budget and too complicated at this point. Done a lot of searches and its mentioned alot.

I would do it, and have done it twice in the last 8 months on my bikes. If your taking it apart I would go with the .030 gasket. My 2 cents.

If you want to do the 103" kit right, install the cylinders with pistons no rings, use a headbolt to secure the cylinder/piston down to the cases, put piston on TDC, use a micrometer to measure how far down in the hole the piston is (I find that most TC96 are near .008" in the hole), record this for front and rear cylinder. Write it on the jug with a black sharpie, as well as marking them FRONT and REAR.

Take both jugs to a machine shop, have them cut the BOTTOM of the cylinder with a lathe to remove the extra height.

Reinstall on bike, this time with piston rings, o-rings, etc.

Use a .030" Cometic MLS headgasket.

You will hav a perfect .030" squish, which will preclude you from having detonation (pinging).

Also, I highly reccomend you have your heads drilled for MCR.

You could also do alot better than 255 cams.
