hey ya'll ,
I was wondering what acceptable oil pressure and volt readings are supposed to be? I have a 07 FLHX , volt guage reads 16 (seems kinda high to me) and oil pressure hot and idling is about 16 lbs, highway speeds about 35 lbs, running screaming eagle 20/50 synthetic....are these readings normal?
thanks in advance
Oil pressure sounds good, especially for idle. Volts should be around 14 to 14.4 If you have a multi-meter, you might want to check it that way. Could be your gauge is off a bit, or your regulator is going bad. 16 is too high and can cook the battery.
that is kind of what i thought, i was changing the oil, noticed the wiring from the reg was wet, not oil, wiped it down, appeared to be clear, looked like brake fluid, thought maybe rear brake master was leaking , but is dry, havent taken the reg off, is there a sealant in them like on some cars, was thinking maybe the reg was getting hot and melting it
