Default Replacement Seat Review - Reach and Sundowner

I recently picked up a 2000 UC which came with the stock seat.

The stock seat on my UC is very comfortable; the best feeling stock seat I've ever had on any bike. Unfortunately, the stock seat is too wide and high for me to firmlay plant my feet on the ground for duck walking and the like.

I'm 5'7" with a 29" inseam and weigh 190lbs. Even with good MC boots, the stock seat places me to high on the bike at a standstill.

I ran a Reach seat which put my feet low enough to do what I need to do with the bike at a standstill, but at a price - less comfort. They remove quite a bit of padding to make the Reach seat more narrow towards the driver's end of the seat. Plus, the reach seat pushes you forward; I didn't need that feeling of being on top of the gas tank. Gotta admit that the seat does get you much closer to the ground and with that seat, there was no need to lower the suspension one iota. I just wish it was more comfortable or, if not, then at least it didn't push you forward.

I have a Sundowner seat on there now. It's somewhere between the stocker and the Reach seat in height, but is sufficiently high enough that I have to lower the rear suspension about 3/4" at a cost of $340 for new rear shocks installed.

The Sundowner is a very comfortable seat. Not quite as wide as the stock, but wider than the Reach seat.
