Default Check Engine Light

I have an Ultra Limited. It has not yet been in for the 1000 mile service. Intermittently, when I turn the ignition on or start the bike, the check engine light does not go out. If I turn the ignition switch off or turn off the engine, I can turn the ignition back on and the light goes on for a while then goes off. Anything to worry about? or can I wait until I bring the bike in for it's first service? I checked the spark plug wires, but do not know what else to look for. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The second part of your statement is standard operating procedure. Depends on how your switches are set when you go to start your bike. I use the handlebar switches to turn my engine off, so when I start up, when I set the switch to run, Check light comes on, fuel pump runs, then light goes out, then I start. If you are already set to run, then when you turn your on, then the check light would come on, but you should hear the pump also.

If it comes on, goes off, comes back on for as second or two then goes out again, you have a stored trouble code. Do the search here on codes and you can see how to read them, what they mean, and how to clear them. If it's not staying on, it may not be a big deal at all and just needs to be cleared. If the engine light stays on, you have a problem that needs immediate attention. Read the code, see what it is, clear it, and see if it comes back. If it comes back, just take it in and let them repair it under warranty.
