I have it and think it was worth it, right now riding the unemployment train, it is my only transportation. If something breaks, I doubt I could afford to fix it. So for me it's more piece of mind. If you can afford to replace big ticket items then maybe it's not for you.
Same thing for peace of mind. I do a lot of two up accross the states. If I was stranded by myself it would not bother me. But with my wife that is a different story. I have had two radios and a compensator replaced for only the $50 deductable.
Anyone selling a warranty is doing so to make money, and it's been worked out by experts to be in the seller's advantage, so if you want to bet against yourself / your purchase, do so. The odds are set for them to win.
Do you really want to bet your machine is the unlucky one, knowing the odds are against you ? I would guess your not an optimistic type guy.
But if you can afford it, no doubt it nice to have ... you may even sleep better for it. I view it as a luxury I care not to buy.
I bought the warranty when I got my bike. I wanted the warranty for the length of time that I am making payments. If something happens $50.00 is easier than $500.00. My premium air horn fell off this morning when I got to the fire station so $50.00 is better than over $200.00.
I am opposed to buying "insurance" on anything that I can afford to fix and do not need. Do you buy warranties on automobiles? Do you buy warranties on tv's? If you do, then you should buy one on your bike. If you feel, like I do, that you can afford to replace or repair it when it breaks, you will save money in the long run. Warranties make companies BIG money.
I have had the engine replaced the transmission seals relpaced twice the shift shaft replaced 4 radio's the cruse control swich replaced and a couple of things that
I can"t think of right now. So it cost me $1200.00 I have got about 6000.00
worth of parts and labor
I dont think they are worth the money. They are geared to be a profit center for the sellers and it always seems to be a hassle to get things covered under the warranty. If I was going to buy an extended warranty, the only one I would consider would be underwritten by HD. Third party warranties seldom ever pay out. JMO
