Default Need help w/SG hard saddle problem

I took off my LR Saddle on my SG to clean the rear wheel and when I put it back on I had a tough time getting the rear fastner (Pin that twist locks) to catch. I was just doing it by feel so when I finally looked at it I noticed I must have been too aggressive and bent the tip on the pin so now it wont come out of the saddle. I need to replace the pin and its an easy fix but the d#mn pin wont come out of the hole. Its a really tight spot (as you know) and all the painted surfaces makes me nervous!!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Adjust the brackets properly to avoid this issue in future...you should not have to force the pins...mine line up dead on!

Yeah i had that problem too with a bent pin. I used plyers to squeeze the head. Once I got it out, I fine tuned the head to it orginal shape. Or you can buy new ones.

After all that was done, I loosened all the brackets, put the pins in (and attached) then tighened the brackets. The brackets need to be adjusted from time to time. The pind should be able to go in smoothly at all times, if not adjust brackets.....it happens!!!!!

You might try loosening the bolt that holds the bracket in place. Then, when you reinstall the bags, make sure both brackets are loosely attached until you get the bag on. Once on, tighten everything up and you shouldn't have that problem anymore.

Just happened to me too. I used needle nosed pliers to close the pin and then did what everyone else is saying. I guess the brackets move after a while and need to be adjusted.

Too bad they don't adjust them correctly at the factory when they are built. My left bag was always hard to latch until I installed the detachable backrest hardware kit and adjusted everything correctly. Oh well what do you expect for 20K or more, perfection?
