go ahead and ride to Sturgis without a windshield, & it will be the one trip you will rememeber, and still be talking about 30 years from now. Go ahead & do it I say, after all isn't that why we ride in the first place, for the memories?

Last year the grasshoppers were pretty bad, and the hail. The rain comes and goes, wish i had a windshield last year because i wouldnt have had to stop as much everytime it did start to rain. I'll be ready this year!

bought a clearview 8" recurve awhile back and put it on my SG and went for a ride, came home and took it off (too tall). Waited to long (30+ days) before I tried it to return it, but I'm using it to ride to Sturgis cause of all the **** I rode thru last year when I was there. Maybe I can trade it for a 6.5" recurve when I get back. Rode a few years back on my road king without a shield out there and realized by the time I was in Illinois it was a mistake.

Definitely good choice for the w/s - loads of bugs out in force right now. I just traveled from Omaha, NE to central MN & back - wasn't one sq inch of the shiels that didn't have guts. Also, semi kicked a rick up & smacked off the shield too - if not, would've been my head. You'll be glad you chose to go w/shield...

wow seawolf, not to be an *** but by now this question should be a non issue for you to answer for yourself after having logged in 28 thousand miles. other peoples opinions don't mean squat when you're out riding those miles by yourself. it's just you, the road, and the wind. so it's up to you. i'd not want to go over 50 miles without a windshield. they're called that because they shield you from the wind i'm thinking.
