Well, I've been patiently waiting for the 11's, even forced myself to AVOID my local stealer all day yesterday (the 27th) 'cause I knew all the looky-loo's would be there, then showed up at the door this morning, when they opened. At which time I was advised that they will not be displaying the 11's until August 14th! I wonder why. Is it because they are a relatively small stealership and won't recieve an allotment until then? Or because of all the 10's on the floor waiting for guys like me who are probably just gonna go with a 10, since they're a few bucks cheaper and there isn't anything new, to speak of, on the 11's. Whatever the reason, tics me off, because I thought today would be the day! Guess I'll head for the big city and check out the bigger guys!
Sorry... end of my rant
A truck with 9 2011 models showed up at my dealership yesterday. Each box had a big orange sticker on it reading "don't deliver before July 27". They'll be on the floor before this weekend. Oh and he has several 2010s on the floor too. Guys who want a 2011 won't buy a 2010 and the ones who don't care for a 2011 will get a better deal on a leftover.
I remember going to a dealership in Ft. Worth a couple years ago and they wouldn't put any new model year bikes out until they sold their stock on the previous model year. I have not visited the dealers here in Oklahoma yet, but they usually put out a few new model year bikes out as soon as they can.
I always thought a good way to get a bunch o folks into the dealership would be to invite everyone over for free cokes and hotdogs while watching the dealership open the crate and assemble the first new model bike in front of everyone. They could brag about seeing the new bike at the same time as the dealership. Simple cheap marketing and you know the SESG would be sold the moment the crate was opened.
Had to go by my closest HD dealer on the 28th and no 11s on the floor yet. In the service area there were 7 being prepped (RG Custom in new Orange was sweet) and out in the parking lot 7 bikes were in the boxes.
BTW in my area you can't find any 2010 RGs, but this one dealer had 7 new 2010 SGs. Something tells me if you want a SG in my area 10s will be the deal.
