Default RE: Bluetooth Option?

Certainly there are systems that will allow a cell phone to be operated on a bike (Bluetooth, some of the J&M systems, etc.). I personally carry a cell, on vibrate to let me know someone is calling. But, I certainly would not want to talk on one while I'm riding, no matter how convienient it can be. You can always pull over to talk, but not while riding.

How many times have you seen a cager driving in his own little world, talking on the cell phone, oblivious to what is going on around him. Riding a bike safely requies one to keep focused on not only driving, but what is going on around him.

Even though it is possible, I think it is certainly unwise to attempt to operate a bike and cell at the same time!

A guy I worked with had a bluetooth headset and I hated talking to him on the phone. He'd have split seconds where he'd cut out, even though it was just a really short time it'd still cut out vital parts of the conversation and with murphy's law it seemed that I'd have to ask him 5 times to repeat himself because it'd cut out at the perfectly wrong times.

I'm interested in this more so for comms between the passenger and myself. I haven't heard much about it though.

I agree,,,,,I ride to get away from EVERYTHING! I do not have a radio on my bike nor do I listen to a MP3 player. I have to listen to a radio everyday I go to work,,,,,the last thing I want to listen to is a radio on my bike...sorry for the rant!

I get great pleasure from the fact that I can't answer a phone call while on my bike. It's the one place I can escape to without interuptions.

I had the bluetooth option installed on my '07 Ultra Classic. I am having some difficulty finding a phone and service that will work with it. I currently have Nextel service, employer required. The only Nextel service phones that work, including the phonebook download, are the Blackberry phones. I don't want to pay for the Blackberry features, just need the phone. If you go on the H-D website there is a list of phones by service provider that will work with the bluetooth option.

mcb, you have the best avatar I think I've ever seen. Very cool. Well done. This is NOT a post on BT use when riding a motorycycle. Though I guess I'll chip in even if my only point was to marvel at your avatar. I'm with the camp that thinks there are some times in life when one ought to be unavailable. One of those times is when you're riding with your knees in the breeze. Have a great day.

I ride to get away from everything as well. BUT!!!!!1 I also ride as often as possible. Seeing as how my phone is a part of my daily working, and I se almost 10k minutes a month I need to know when it rings, and be bale to answer it now. Even when on the bike.

So I like knowing and bing able to talk on the phone even while riding the bike. It allows me to put more riding time in vesus driving my cage everyday.

If anyone is interested, I saw one of the interfaces, part number 76408-06 I think, on sale last week at Dallas Harley for $370.00. I thought it was a good deal....

Thats just like these forums....I come here to get away from the constant nagging provided by the wife, when asked one queston, and she goes off on a unsolicited tangent.............. this thread is about the blue tooth option offered to work through the radio on a motorcycle, and if it was a good value or not.

Alot of us could care less ifYOU want to have the option, or why you feel YOU don't need it.

Back to our regularly scheduled topic..........

A buddy has the MotoCo option installed and is quite pleased with it.(Even without the headset in use you still can see who called through the display on the radio face and decide if you need to stop andreturn the call).
I use a B150 bluetooth headset made by BlueParrot( www.blueparrott.com. ) in the cage, truck or on the bike. Which works out quite well for my needs on the bike sinceI just toss the cell in one of my windshield pouches and if it rings I can gab it and see via its screen ifI want to take the call or not.(But it is nice to have that option of deciding)
Before using the headset,I used to keep the phone on vibrate and in a inner pocket soI would know when a call was received, and sometimes whenI would stop later to check and return that call...NO SERVICE..... gots to love mountian riding.
