I was in kind of a similar situation - ready to buy the '09 CVO RG, but when I added the cost to add the color-matched tour pak, lowers, pipes, A/C and tuner I quickly realized that I'd have $40k into a motorcycle, so I opted for the '09 Ultra. If you can afford it, do it - as someone else already said, you only go around once!

I just saw the 2011 CVO Ultra Classic and feel like I have to have it. I just love the color and all the bells and whistles.
I had the Stage 2 BB w/ 255 cams and V & H slip ons.
So what do you all think??
Thanks for the help!
Go for it. A tuner, pipe, cams and a GOOD operator on the Dyno and you will never look back

Last year I wanted the 10 CVO SG real bad, held strong and kept my 08. Glad I did cuz that 11 CVO SG Autumn Haze / Antique Gunstock is a beauty, and here we go again.

Go for the CVO Ultra. You won't be disappointed however you do need to set your expectations properly. The stock 110 is not particularly "frisky". The stock 110 on my 2010 SE Ultra was dynoed before my engine work at 77hp 100ft/lbs.

So if you're expecting a rocket ship out of the box, you're looking in the wrong place. OTOH, you're starting with an outstanding platform to build upon to get exactly the kind of power you need for your riding style. If you're considering a SE Ultra than I assume you have the means to upgrade the engine to really fulfill its design capabilities. Go for headwork, cams, exhaust and intake and you'll have a motor that will fulfill most, if not all of your biking wishes.

If you can afford to do it...without looking over your shoulder at the bank, or your wifes lawyer....I think you ought to do what makes you happy. Everytime I see a CVO driving down the road all I think about is the lucky stiff riding it. Wish I could afford one myself.

Good luck.
