cheap but very good: 80/100 osram headlight bulb. cheap and effective.
best bang for the buck are the HD lights that mount on the engine guards. these rock.
Unfortunately i now have an ultra and they don't fit.
I added Vizors that mount to the engine guards and they are very bright, but not as bright, not as cheap and not as easy to install as the HD's that mount on the engine guards.
Be careful when going to a higher wattage bulb such as a 90-100w. Most of the time the wiring , sockets, fuse's & lamp buckets are NOT rated for this and will fail in the end.
I understand the disclaimer, but I've never run accross a failure caused by a 3.5 amp increase in load, or a heat related failure in a steel/glass lamp housing.
It's pretty easy to wire in a relay with a separate power feed if the need presents itself.
I'd be pretty dissapointed if the wiring in my new HD was lighter duty than my 25yr old Honda though
forget about the hid's. susquehanna motor sports is an importer of the hella E-code headlights. the 7" round will work in your 2010 eg classic just fine. i ordered mine friday and it should be here by the middle of this week. the E-code headlights are for the european market and they claim to put out 400 % more light, which they actually don't. they just don't splatter it all over the place like our d.o.t. headlights do. the beam is focussed mainly down the center of your lane rather than spreading out to oncoming traffic and to illuminate overhead signs etc. cost was $38 bucks and with priority mail to my place in oklahoma it came to $50.25 far more effective than any of the other alternatives i've found. i also suggest going to napa auto parts and getting the bakelite headlight socket. it's easy to install. just cut the wires off of the ridiculous plastic stock harley headlight socket, solder and heat shrink the wires and you've got something that is much more suitable. it makes headlamp bulb changes so much easier than with the stock harley plug end. it's about five bucks. by the way, the hella E-code headlight is all metal and glass unlike the stock chromed plastic reflector the harley comes with. you can find it by googling susquehanna motor sports. friday they had 17 units in stock. the jeep guys use them because they really work great. they take a standard or osram/sylvania h-4 bulb available anywhere. i don't buy into the hid or led headlights.
just be sure if you decide to go with the E-code headlight, don't get the one made for england. those guys drive on the wrong side of the road. susquehanna has them for germany and france where they drive on the right, "correct" side of the road. and they are legal to use in the usa as long as it's just the main headlamp. using two like in a jeep is not though. you don't even have to buy a new bulb because it'll accept your stock h-4 you already have. but while you're in there it'd be a nice upgrade to put in a sylvania or osram, same company, higher performance bulb. it's the same thing harley sells for 30 bucks and you get a pair at autozone for less than that.
HD fog lights here. Not only provide great light at night but run them during the day as well. Believe these kept a few cagers from pulling out in front of me.
