Default eg pullback bars

Well I figured I would try and install these without new cables. Umm yep no go. Need a new clutch cable for sure. I think the throttle cables will have to be done too. Everything else looks ok. So on go the old bars and I will have to order in the other stuff. So even though it will work with some bikes it wont with the Electraglide. [:'(] Also the bend is a little different. The ends bend in more. While this puts my wrists at a off angle I am not sure if it will be ok or not until I try them.

Which bars did you go with? I put the Wild1 Chubby W0575's on mine...you don't have to get a new clutch cable...you do have to route it inside the radio though...let me know if you're not clear on what I'm talking about.

I tried routing the cable about 5 different ways and still couldnt get the length I needed. I am having a tough time even getting the correct part numbers they supply with the bars to come up. I am on my way down to the dealer to find out what they have used and maybe find an alternate or see if I can return the bars.

Were they Wild1 Chubby's? If you are going to buy extended cables, talk to me first...I just went through this and learned a bunch.

An Easy way to find out how long of a cable you need is to route the old cable the way you want to route it and then measure the distance that you are short. Keep in mind that you need to take in to account the distance you need to have to adjust the clutch after you put it on. I would put the new bars on and then see how they feel. I like the stock bars so far and if I needed to change them, go with the Barnett cables. They are perfect and will fit easily with any bars. A good parts dept will be able to fit you correctly.

Keep in mind that depending on bars you also may need to change steel brake line.[sm=americanasmiley.gif]

Well I was at the dealer yesterday and founf the info I was looking for. The bars I have are the touring pullback ones from harley. They do make a stock like cable for everything I need but the brake lines. For those I must go to stainless. I will check out the barret cables and do some research before I buy the ones from harley.

Wild1,

The throttle and idle cables that I put on my bike were extended. You may have seen the difficulties that I had in the General Tech section. Not sure if your ride is EFI or not, but the extended cables recommended for my bike were the ones for the RK. I don't know if there is a difference in the years, or what the problem was, but where the throttle cable attaches to the induction module, it caused the housing to be about 3/8" or so too close. This prevented me from being able to go WOT. I was able to fabricate a plastic collar for about $5, and it was not difficult. This was using the HD cables...

The clutch was no problem. I rode in today for the first time in nearly a week, and I noticed that I have a little "slop" in the the throttle, so I need to adjust the idle cable tonight. I'll post back if you like.

Let me know if need this info, or need more info, or have all you need.

Mac
