As far as sales, HD is doing better than most in a terrible economy from what I have seen.

This all sounds more like a dealer problem than a bike quality issue. Everything mentioned should have been corrected under warranty the first time, if it was not then perhaps a different dealer is the solution.

I have an '08 Ultra, and besides having to replace the TBW sensor (covered under warranty) I have had no problems at all in the first 20,100 miles.
The compensator issue is NOT a dealer problem. It's a known part design problem that Harley engineering says is not severe enough to extend warranty coverage or recall and continued to use this part for years. So, if you don't mind the kickback, the noise, and early starter failure you can chalk it up to whatever you want. I call it a deliberate compromise in quality that is inconsistant with the price of the bike. It is NOT some inadvertent defect due to an imperfect world you claim it is. And that is why in 2011 that inferior compensator is no longer used on new bikes.

So why are you sitting on a Harley then?
