you can chop it... or buy the shorty.... or replace the seat... or simply remove it... or get a batwing fairing... or get a 2" taller shield....

Looking over or through is a personal choice. Mine is over. I wear a full face helmet and if I look through especially in the rain then I'm looking through two surfaces with raindrops on them = poor visibility.

I just replaced the stocker on my 07 Ultra with a 10-inch from FastAire. What a tremendous improvement. The price was excellent ($36 including shipping), the quality was excellent, the delivery was as stated, and the fit was perfect. It took less than 15 minutes to swap out. This windshield moves the top edge about two inches below my normal sight line which is perfect for me.

Technically you should be looking over the windshield for all the reasons stated above. If it's situated right you can look right over the windshield and still have the wind deflected over your head. Not many people can say that's true for them, unfortunately. I'm 6'4" and my stock windshield on my RKClassic is perfect for me. I can see right over it and I'm still out of the wind. Once those bugs get built up after a couple hundred miles you don't want to be looking through the windshield.

I would suggest and recommend www.clearviewshields.com. I have one on my road glide and several of my friends have them on their EGs. Superb quality and you can get the euro-flip on the top edge to deflect air over your head and a center vent. Give John a call!

I didn't know that there was a definitive answer to that question. Be that as it may, yes, rain and bugs do tend to cause problems since I prefer to look through. Solved that issue by simply waxing the shield when I do the bike. Don't pay too much attention to that crap about not putting anything on the shield. It's only Lexan! Give it a try.

I'm just quoting what the dudes at MSF told me. After riding for about 25 years I'd say they're right. Looking through the windshield is not optimum. After awhile it irritates the hell outta me.

I use H-D Glaze on the windshield and it works pretty well. But after a few hundred miles it gets nasty...must be a Georgia thing.
