Oil every 5k, primary and transmission every 10k, fork oil every 20k. I'll switch to 10W-40 for the motor in November. The plugs looked fine at 15k, I'll change them at 20k.
I just read my service check-up checklist provided by the factory. They recommend changing primary at 10K and then primary and transmission at 20K. Is this for real?
Yep. And quite likely 5K on your engine oil and filter.
That's the interval recommended for my bike too. I choose to stick to the recommended schedule, I figure the engineers who recommend such things know a lot more about it than I do.
...."wasting resources"?!?!.......what the heck does that mean? When I fill my motorcycle with gas and ride around with no particular destination in mind am I also "wasting resources"? I'm a firm believer that regular changing of all fluids is cheap protection, even if that's more often than recommended in the manual. In more than 50 years of owning cars, motorcycles, boats and an airplane I've never had any engine or transmission issues.....so I'll just keep "wasting resources and money".....LOL

Do you have any evidence that changing fluids more frequently than recommended interval gives greater protection than changing fluids at the recommended interval?
4-5 K on motor and primary. Since I put my new Barnett Kevlar clutch in I've noticed much dirtier primary. I worried that all of the extra abrasive grit suspended in the fluid could be putting my tensioner shoe at even higher risk I pulled the primary cover today during my routine fluid change. Everything looked great in there, but I will still change the primary with every motor change. Tranny will usually get done on every 3rd change.
