I just read my service check-up checklist provided by the factory. They recommend changing primary at 10K and then primary and transmission at 20K. Is this for real?
I have always changed both every 5,000 miles. I guess I have been over-changing fluids. 20K on the transmission seems to be a long interval between changes.
Can't hurt to change fluids often. I change mine every season, all three holes. Sometime I will change the engine more often in a season if I ride alot of miles.
One thing I have noticed reading all the posts on this subject is that most folks talk about mileage, but not about calender months. I believe time is an import factor as well when deciding about fluid changes.
Just my opinion, keeps me in the warm and fuzzy zone with my scoot. Small investment to make.

This makes sense. Since I ride about 10K per year, a spring change for all three holes after a long winter makes sense.
I do 10k a year. I change all 3 holes at the end of the season so it is ready for the spring. I change my oil at 5k so that happens about halfway through the season. So I realistically do 2 oil changes and 1 primary and tranny.

You need to change the fluids before you put her to bed in the winter. The acids that build up from the oil is caustic to the inside of your engine.
Calendar months are good also, because not riding the bike and using the fluids is just as bad as not changing fluids. I ride 1500-2000 miles a month, if I deploy at an odd interval, the fluids get changed and ridden for a couple hundred miles then put away.
