looking into a 103 build. want to make a reliable 100hp/100tq. this should be easily done. but more is always better. i am sure some of you guys have some "piece together" kits that run great. i am not scared of getting some head work done. as i think it is a must to get the best out of this combo. what are some of the aftermarket company that make a killer kit??? i think i will go ahead a do the compression releases too (manual)...budgit 2500-3000
hey QUIKLUV, check out harleys kit part #27544-10. i'm really sold on it, the kit comes with the 259-E cams, 10.75 to 1 compression ratio forged pistons, all sorts of other goodies. my 103 runs like a pissed off gorilla and has been very reliable. several other guys in the forum are using the same kit and have had great results as well. the manual compression releases while it's torn down is great, along with the s.e. compensator.

Why would you want to use manual CR? I'm thinking much the same as you, but I would prefer auto CR. I don't know a lot about them, but what I heard is 08 needs a harness and a flash, 09 already has the harness, just need to flash ECM to turn it on.
Is there a reason you would want to do it manually?
im doing the 103 cylenders,se259e cam,mcr performance heads, flat top cast piston, perfict fit pr,and stock head gasket. hopeing this combo works well? upgraded my sert to tts.

Me too! the parts are sittin here in my livingroom.just pieced together this stuff from ebay(came in boxes from harley dealers).did some homework ,259 cams are as much lift as mcr heads can handle, shouldnt need new rockers but am replaceing the inner cam bearing, and lifters(stock) while im there.Shouldnt need bigger throttle body/injectors(stock),air(already se ac),im stuck with using stock head gasket for the most part with perfict fit pr cause i dont want to deal with adjustable ones. dont have to deal with sending heads out or worrying about valves..ect with 30 k miles on my stockers using new heads.
ive searched and searched for a 1000 hours and have seen nothin wrong with this build ,259 cams like higher compression so this is a tender area,,,we are looking at about 10:1 actual compression or less?...will this be good enough for these cams? should i have used a higher compression piston(22144-08B)? vs flat top.should I say fugg it and use adjustable pr w/cometic 0.03 head gasket? these are my main concerns ????????but time is running out.Maybe its better to run comppression this way for ping factor? btw just added medium spring on clutch and se comp aswell.also replaceing all the bolts with crome while im there(even tranny).the extras(optional),items and tools total 500$
