Default Anybody here remove crash bar from a SG???

I am thinking about doing this, but would like to see some pics. I think it would look more streamlined and cleaner.

Thanks,

Shakey

Took mine off once to see how it looked, but didn't like so now I've added lowers to enhance the touring lines. Sorry, didn't take pics w/bars off, but I'm sure other will chime in...

At one time I was considering remove the rear crash bar on my King and using a Street Glide bag support. I pulled up to a light and there was alot of loose grave and my right foot slid out and the bike went over and it stopped on the front and rear crash bars, about 45 degrees. If those crash bars wern't their the bike would have been on it's side. It was hard enough to stand the 800 pound bike up from 45 degress much less from flat on her side. Plus their was zero damage to the bike.

I made up my mind that I don't care if there ugly or not there staying on.

I like the look. I have a LINDBY Twin Bar. Gonna buy the switch backs for my floor boards and remove my highway bar for good.

If you've never crashed, I guess you might consider such ideas.

If you've experienced, or witnessed, a Harley performing in a get-off, such thoughts wouldn't occur to you.

One of the wonderful aspects of the evolution of harleys, IMHO.

I agree it would look great without em, and I've contemplated the same (just to see).
But i have tipped her over before, and I know the difference in damage would be $0 with them on to $100's - $1000's with them off. And that's just a tip over!

There is at least 1 or 2 other threads posted on this same topic and you're going to get the guys that say you're a dumb *** if you take them off and you're going to get the guys that say they took them off for various reasons but I took them off my 07 SG, and my 2010 SG just for the looks. After watching many bikes fall over I can tell you if mine ever falls over I will probablly wish I had the bars on but... its my bike and my money... here is a couple pics as you requested...

I hit a deer with my 07SG last November (no crash bars) and went down... bike was totalled, I came out with a lot of bumps, etc... nothing major. I also witnessed a friend go down with crash bars on his SG... and the bars basically folded up like a noodle... they are great for tipping/falling over most defiantly, but I dont have a lot of faith in them for protection for the bike or the rider if the bike goes down while doing any kind of road speeds. JMHO.
