My neighbor has a 2006 Road King with 3000 miles. He is basically afraid to drive it. While he seems to be in no hurry to sell I think he would take a reasonable offer. My questions is whether 2006 was a particularly good (or bad) year for Road Kings and what a bike like this would be worth?
I just paid (June) 13k at a dealer.
Has ext service plan. Had 18k miles on it when I got it. Rush slip ons, SE intake.
Bike was treated very well from the looks of it. For what it's worth.. no pun
I paid 13.5K about 6 months ago for my 06. Black RK classic only had 2400 miles on it. Was in showroom condition w a couple little extras but nothin major. It has 8000 on it now. No issues and I couldn't be happier.
I paid 11k 3 weeks ago for an '05 RK Classic with 6k miles, extended warranty, and V&H Dresser duals and a couple of windshields and luggage rack and stuff. The chrome needed alot of elbow grease to bring it back so I knocked him down on the price a bit.
Well, I upgraded mine from the wear-out-fast-and-destroy-your-engine cams to gear-driven Andrews cams. After that, I expect it to be pretty bullet-proof. I've heard some murmuring about engine mounts, but mine look okay so far. It turned over 41,000 miles the other day, and it's been a great ride for every inch of that.
