Default My weekend

Over my weekend I took my bike into the dealer to have the shift shaft seal replaced under warranty and at the same time replace the enter primary with a chrome one (looks good by the way). Well they got it all done in a few hours, took it out for a test ride, looked for leaks, washed it and the delivered it to me out front. I pack all of my stuff in the bags and was ready to head home, jumped on the bike and went to start it and all it did was click when I hit the start button.[:@] The mechanic came out front and pushed it back into the shop and started to troubleshoot it. For the next 5 hours they work on it and could not figure out what the problem was. They swapped battery's, checked relays, checked grounds and switches, funny thing was then they bypassed the low power side of the start system and went strait to the 12v side, it would start every time. Now they had to keep the bike until they could figure it out (They did give me a new 07 Street Glide to ride while they had my bike). The next day the bike started just fine every time so they changed the start switch precautionary and sent me on my way. When I got home (about 30 miles away) I started cleaning up my bike then decided I'd go for a little putt and wouldn't you know it; the damn thing would not start again just click[:'(]. Well I ended up pushing it down the drive way (luckily I live on a hill) and start it in 4th gear. I went strait back to the dealer and told them to try again. This time they pulled the primary apart again and found a radial crack in the jack shaft bushing in the outer primary cover. They replaced the bushing and all is now well.
What I think was happening was the keeper on the end of the jack shaft was getting stuck in the crack but if you bypassed the low power side of the start circuit and went strait to the hi current side it would have enough power to push it past the crack.
All is good now and the new chrome enter primary looks great.

Hey Sub...

You've been quiet for a while.

I bet that was frustrating! Glad to hear they found something and hope it's resolved completely.

So.... How did ya like the SG? Any feedback on the 96" / 6-speed?

Later!

BTW - That inner primary really does look good!!!

I haven't had a problem since they changed the bushing, so I'm sure they got it.

The SG was a fun bike to ride even though it road like an old truck, I'm sure it had to do with the stock lowered suspension. The engine was ok, nothing to write home about. I did notice it still had the same old valve train noise. The new 6 speed transmission was great. It was nice going down the highway a 70 MPH and only turning about 2300 RPM, I wish I had one in my bike. I have been thinking about getting a Baker DD6 (well maybe some day). O ya and the stock exhaust still sucks, I could hardly hear the bike over the wind noise.

Glad you fixed your problem...sounded very frustrating. I have the chrome inner primary on my Fatty and think it looks great. You won't see too many of those around which is another reason I went with it. Ride Safe.
