crazy talk. these plugs are operated in an ECM/EFI system. reality check, they are good until they ain't. no way they will get fouled or otherwise with EFI. frankly, snatching on the plug wires and removing the plugs to check the gap will do way more damage than anything.
leave the damn things alone until something (mileage/performance drops) tells you they need to be replaced.
I don't see the point of changing plugs at 5k miles....Both a waste of money and good plugs. Run 'em till your performance and/or gas mileage suffers...IMO, the less you got screwing the plugs in and out the better.
Mine have 45000 miles on them...screaming eagle triple platinum....take them out and check them and put them back in ...look fine so i don't see the reason to change them...i might this year??? for the hell of it...
Gotta agree with Crusing, Bwana, and Oley on this. You gotta know when your plugs aren't firing right, and it's an easy fix (clean/re-gap or replace). If it ain't broke, don't fix it, just have a spare with ya. That said, preventative maintenance (clean/gap) won't hurt ya in the interim.
