Default Whats a guy to do?

I got a 02 RK true duals, se a/c, PCv, My cousin has a 07 883 low. He just put a big bore kit and a programer on it. We were riding and got into them and man he smoked my ^#@*! That things like a rocket! So now he is pounded me in the pavement. Everytime I turn around he is calling me raggin and running my RK in the ground. Is there any way I can turn the tables on him? If he bumps that to a 1200,He's gonna really let you have it! and no their isnt. I race a sportster. Right now it's a 1250 and i do low 10's in the 1/4 mile. You have a heavy scoot compared to his and with the XL having a 4 cam set up...Look out! ;-)

You can rag on the Sportys all you want but I wish I still had mine. They are a blast to ride for short hops and day trips.
I love my Road Glide but there is room in my garage for a nice 1200.

About 10 years or so ago I had a 1996 Sportster 1200 Custom. I ended up putting Screamin Eagle cams in, a Thunderslide kit in the carb, a Kuryakyn drag scoop type air filter and Samson Big Guns exhaust with the anti-reversion inserts and the Samson restrictors in the main pipes to get some backpressure. I regularly was able to blow away my buddy on his 2000 Fatboy with extreme ease. The bike was actually scary fast on acceleration but it was also scary as hell at high speed. I had it to 100 but was way to scared to go any faster than that. When I sold it and later bought a 2003 Softail Standard, there was a definite power difference, even after I did a Stage 1 to it. And when I got my 2007 I really feel a performance difference, even with the Stage 1 type upgrades. But its a much more comfortable bike to ride, thats for sure.

This is kind of like owning a diesel pick-up. You have these 1/2 ton big blocks running around smoking you from light to light. BUT...attach 10,000 lbs of trailer and its another story. Same thing. The sporty..mildly breathed on is gonna smoke ya. But see who's smiling packing the "ol lady and 200lbs. of gear on a 750 mile ride.

+1

My youngest just rode his friend's new stock 1200 Sporty from Fort Bragg, NC to Washington D.C. and back last Sunday - it was about a 14 hour ride time up and back.

He said the first two hours were great - amazed at how fast and agile the Sporty was. The next 12 hours nearly beat him to death.

Both he and his buddy got off the bikes back at Fort Bragg admitting that while both of their father's had Road Kings, and they'd sworn they didn't want "old man's bikes", those Road Kings were looking pretty sweet after 14 hours on a Sportster!

Some guys just need to learn lessons the hard way!
