I am pretty dilligent about keeping my bike clean; but I recently noticed that the engine fins on the front of the forward engine has some kind of corrosion. I discovered this because a friend of mine that kids me about how clean I keep my bike predicted correctly that I probably had this corrosion. He told me it's very common, especially for those of us that live near the ocean. He also told me that there is some product that you can spray on your engine that will prevent this corrosion from happening. In fact, he should me his wife's bike that he had sprayed, and the engine fins looked brand new--even though they live close to the beach.
I had never noticed this before because the engine fins in front really aren't that visible; and I have never thought to clean there. But now that I have, has anyone else had this problem? What is the best way to remove this stuff from the engine?
Probably the only way is to polish the fins. If you search the net you will find some good pointers on polishing the fins. Unfortunately, it is easier to polish them off the bike but it can be done.
