Just look at the road glide . org site. A lot of us running 12" windvests... They are awesome for someone 5'9 and below. The best out of all I tried.

Forget the wavy melted look please.

Almost a perfect post with only one exception - include 14" height for taller riders.

ETA: Maybe even a 16" for those that need to use an oxygen mask due to their high altitude (and consider tall H/bar interference too please).

ha ha ha, Im sure we will make many sizes but it sounds like the wind vest is one of the better ones with the clear view in a second place.

What about vents on the wind vest?

I posted earlier showing the Windvest vs the Clearview.

I have a new bike now (2011 FLTRU) and I like the stock shield. I also kept my 14" Windvest in case I decide to install it.

I agree with the earlier poster concerning the angle of the WV. It could stand to be a steeper angle such as the CV and the stock 2011 shield. I would also like to see a 16" Windvest. Harley got it right with the angle and the width so the mirrors clear. The CV I had was too wide and the mirrors hit. One last thing, the Windvest could be thicker to counter the vibration. Here's a list to make it easier to understand my ramble.

1. Make yours like the Windvest just a bit steeper.
2. Offer a 16" version.
3. Make 3 tints. Clear, smoke, and dark.
4. Make it thicker than the WV but not as thick as the CV to avoid gaps at the bottom.
5. Be sure to have a recurve top.

BTW, I was at Black Hills HD during the Sturgis Rally and Windvest had a booth. They were installing their shields ALL DAY LONG. People seemed happy with the mix of looks and function.

Just 2 my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Steve

I know your threads a little old, but was wondering your height and which Windvest you have... And do you still like it?

I have a Clearview with the recurve and the Goldwing style vent.Opening the vent worked nicely when open. It seemed to lessen the low pressure area behind the windshield and the decrease the air spilling up around the tank.

I have tried quite a few, windvest is the best and allows good clearance for the handelbars. My 14" WV works better than my clearview tall that hits the mirrors and looks like a barn door!

I had the 12" one. Sold the bike, but if I bought another it would be a Windvest for sure!
