I've read that alot of people with the HCC brake line kit are having hell with the brake tee leaking like me. I'm already on my second kit from them and have gone through a whole bottle of that overpriced HD DOT 5 brake fluid. Good customer service but pissed to say the least. Is there an aftermarket tee I could purchase or any tips, tricks, etc I could try to fix this problem. Already tightened the crap out of it and used red loctite but it still leaks. Any help would be appreciated thanks
I had there bars and lines on my 05 and had a problem with the tee leaking. I was luckey that it stoped leaking after a while from tighteing it. The brand they use is Motion Pro, and they are crap. I have ABS on my new bike, so didn't need the tee for this one, just one 6' long brake line. I also got Drag Specialty brake line and clutch cable.
Magnum BYOB (Build Your Own Brake) line kit has worked good for me. Used their kits on 3 different bikes and no leaks yet. Has different angle fittings available for m/cylinder to tuck the line in close and the tee is 1 piece.
I'm putting on a set of HCC apes on a RK tomorrow. I'm a little worried about this after reading similar complaints. HCC told me to use a thread sealant on the fittings. I started a thread on this the other day and most advised not to use any sealant. Any advice on how to attach the fittings to the tee to hopefully avoid leaks?
Thanks
I don't know man. I've used Teflon, loctite, thread sealant, and it still seeps fluid. I don't wanna uninstall everything again so I'm prolly gonna hit up lowes and try to find a way to make my own tee.
Well, I put the 16" apes on my father's RK yesterday...All seems good, switches work-no electrical issues, TBW works, and the brake lines are together. They aren't leaking yet-I hope they don't. Have yours leaked from the get go or did it take a while? Brian at HCC told me to tighten the lines to the tee before installing. So, I sized it all up on the bike-finger tight and put the tee in a vice and tightened down as hard as I could on them. Didn't use any sealant. Short ride afterwards, no probs yet. Father loves the bars, I like them, too. Now I'm thinking of a set for my fat bob. Sorry no pics yet.
