Bought a Wind Splitter windshiled for my new RG Custom and installed it. Functionally, it works a lot better than the stock shortie, but fitment wise, it seems to suck. There is a gap between the rubber weather strip and the faring in the very front of the bike that varies from 1/16" to 1/8" in places. Also, the adhesive that is in the channel of the weather stripping where the windscreen is placed is not holding the weather stripping in place. I came back from a ride yesterday and found this...
Anyone with the same bike and shield have these problems or is it just me?
i didn't use the stock adhesive with my windsplitter. i had a tube of 3m weatherstripping adhesive lying around. have never had any problem with the weatherstripping using that.
as far as the gap in places, i found that if you kept a little pressure on the shield when tightening the well nuts, and do them alternatively (left, then right, working from the middle out), i have no gaps.
I have both the problems you have with your windsplitter shield. I did put a small dab of gorilla glue to hold the weatherstrip in place, but I can not get rid of the gaps. I've tried pressure and alternating how I tighten the screws. I'm def not happy with the fitment.
I bought the windsplitter and had the same problem with the gasket. I messed with it a couple of days, got tired of playing with it and took the gasket off the original shield, put the original gasket on the windsplitter, and all is well,no more gasket problems.

didn't think of that. maybe thats why i didn't have any issues either. i still have the new gasket sitting on the shelf, reused the original. i just assumed they were the same

not me. and we have some hellacious roads here in la. i need the lower rear so that my feet can reach the ground. as it is, i am not flat footed, but i don't want to go to the 11-1/2 progressives that i had on my roadking. i don't want to compromise the ride. it is much better than the rk was! but, my bike is set up for solo. i never ride 2 up.

I have a 2008 Road Glide that was lowered (1 1/2") and never noticed it bottoming out, even with a passenger and luggage. I don't even scrape floorboards on hairpin turns.
