Question OK, I am still confused!

Searching the threads has yeilded me more confusion than answers. 2006 FLHXI rebuilt, Noticed over the weekend that front tire is wearing severely on the right side. First thought is that this is one of the tires with the cupping issue. But after further review, I am inclined to think that the rear could be out of alignment. I am fairly confident with the front end being in line and balance side to side, oil was drained from the forks and replaced. I rebuilt the bike myself, but being new to the HD world, I am a bit lost with the whole rear alignment system on the bikes. I understand the principle, just may not have the tools for the job. Where would you start???

Thanks guys, best forum site yet!

If you don't have one, get a factory service manual, which explains all. Our bikes have two things that can go out of alignment, the rear wheel and the engine/transmission.

The swingarm is mounted on the rear of the transmission and along with the engine is rubber-mounted in the frame. There is a system of alignment for that assembly. Once that is true the wheel, mounted in the swingarm, can be aligned relative to the front wheel.

+1 with both comments above, the book does a great job explaining it and so does Jake in the video. I have done it once with super results. It's not hard just a little time consuming. Good luck.
