So the saga continues with my FLHTCUI. I run for about 20 minutes then the engine sputters and stalls. Let it sit for half an hour and it will start back up and run till hot again. I changed the engine temp sensor, fuel filter, plugs. Last time it quit I had wrench with me and pulled a plug, cranks but no spark and the plug is very lean and dry looking. My next check was once home to let it cool, start it up and heat up the ignition module with a heat gun. It just kept running for 20 minutes. So I am figuring it is not ign module so i am trying the crank position sensor. Any more hints guy's? Sure do want to get machine back on the road.
After it quits, does the fuel pump come on with the ignition turned on?
Or, has the fuel filter been changed?
When I had CS failure it would not restart at all.

I have the EXACT same problem as you, just started Friday, and even though no engine light, checked the codes and it says crank position sensor. New one coming. I actually went for a ride with a bag of ice cubes and placed em on various sensors, first was thetps, it would start right back up, but then the ice did nothing, put some on the cps when I got back and it started and stayed running till I heated it back up. Just checked the codes today as I have aftermarket stereo .....
Main Circuit Breaker. It needs to be replaced. Because it's faulty, it is tripping when it gets hot, then re-sets when it cools. There was a known issue with certain years back then, but they're all subject to it with age. I'd replace the circuit breaker with the maxi-fuse (H-D changed to the maxi-fuse in '04 I believe) but you can do either.
That doesn't cause sputter and ENGINE failure, that causes TOTAL system failure...
Well, he said sputters and stalls then starts again in 30 minutes. I took that to describe the whole thing shutting down. However, you're probably right, since he talks of cranking to see there was no spark.
I just finised putting the crank position sensor in. Thinking of a test drive but it dark early. Will hit it around the block tomorrow after work. Had too many beers this evening celebrating my 50th b day any how. I was trying to check the ignition module but can'
t seem to locate it. Book says behind right side cover, but nothing there that looks like what the book is showing. Any clues? Where the &*#( is waldo?
my buudy had that problem the cause was a red wire under the fuel tank you need to look there the insulation rubs off once you the wire you need to replace
