Default Throttle Friction Screw...

Am I insane but isnt there a small screw on the underside of the throttle grip that adjusts the amount of pressure needed to twist the throttle? Just got new bars on my bike and I think the installer forgot to put the screw back in place. The throttle twists with little to no effort now - I like a little resistance. I think I remember the dealer telling me that I can adjust this with that screw.

Yes, there should be a rather large star-shaped plastic thumb wheel that is called a throttle lock. I don't know if the throttle-by-wire models have it, or if even installed on the current HD's.

The throttle lock should be there.

I don't know about the TBW models but on the other Touring bikes, if you have cruise control there is no throttle lock. I'm guessing the throttle lock may have been on carb'd engines only, as well.

I dont know if I want to call it a throttle lock - maybe throttle friction screw is more like it. Before the bar change it took a little muscle to twist the throttle but now it twists with no effort. I believe this screw adjusts that pressure.

TBW or cable, there won't be a friction screw if you have cruise control since the friction screw/shoe defeats/interferes with the safety feature of the throttle roll-off switch.

The screw is a crude form of cruise control. Personally I think it was a monumentally stupid idea, but that's my opinion. I never used it on my carbed Wide Glide and had it backed off all the way. I use that little "paddle" plastic wrap-around cruise control that you slip on the right grip - works great.
