My Fatboy MY 2016 doesn’t have the screw and I wonder if the previous owners removed it. I don’t have cruise control.

This model year was one of the first softails with electronic throttle I think. But my user manual contains references to this “throttle friction screw”. Might also be a mistake in the manual. Anybody know??

The online parts finder does not show the throttle friction screw for your year/model, in either the "Throttle Control assembly" (where it shows on earlier models) or the "Handlebar Switches- Right Hand" areas... so I don't think it came OEM with your bike...

However, both the 2015 (w/throttle screw) and 2016 (w/o throttle screw) Fat Boys use the #72923-11 bottom-half, right hand switch housing....

So as eighteight suggested, see if your housing has the threaded hole... if it does, it will be located right where the #8 is pointing in this online parts pic....

If you have the threaded hole, you could probably add the #56396-74 Spring and #56397-74C Adjusting screw kit to add it to your bike...

NOTE: This was just a quick parts check on my behalf, you should do some further investigation, to see if that throttle screw will play well with the TBW sleeve... there could be a reason, other than $$$, why the MoCo didn't include it on your model with the TBW system..

If cruise is not an option I think you would be better off with something like the Throttle boss. There a many types seem to work well Setting a screw to hold speed IMO is not wise.

The screw sets "drag" on the throttle ... I've had several scooters that had the option ... Always worked well ... That's my story

Looks like you have the correct hole for the screw, but I can't tell if it's threaded....

You could buy the parts for like $10.00, and see if they can work... but you may need to tap that hole...

Here's my '03 softail with the screw for your reference..

And here's the parts break down from a 2015 Fat Boy..

Let us know what you decide and if it works...

I use that screw to lightly hold the throttle when cruising the slab. I don't tighten it down, just snug it a bit so that I can relax my wrist and still control the throttle. I wouldn't call it a cruise control because it doesn't control the throttle while going up/down hills. For those of us that don't have all the new tech options it works ok.
