I'll move mine next time I have my bike inspected. I have to take it off when I replace the oil filter cause with the HD oil cooler there's not enough room for the filter wrench.
I'll get an horizontal plate and mount it behind the primary, using the lower swingarm bolt.

+1 on the left downtube. NYS requires it to be visible on the LF of the bike, most dealers put it on the L slider which screws up the look of a chromed or blacked out slider. Downtube plate has a hidden screw which results in destroying the inspection sticker to get to it. No hassle with that set up here in the Great State of NY for over 5 years.
