For those of you wondering about my suicide clutch and tank shifter, I decided not to add it at this time. I just got my wife to ride with me in Hawaii and it wouldn't be wise to have that riding two up. Maybe I'll add it at another time.

Here are those pics.

I ran into a problem with the tank shifter. At full lock, the inner fairing hits the shifter and that's without a anything on the end yet. Not a hard fix, but something that needs to be addressed when the time comes to add it.

Next on the list will be extended bags and rear fender.

I do plan on blacking out the horn and bracket along with the derby cover unless I can find some kind of black contrast cut to match everything else. I think my bike would benefit from adding some type of contrast cut tank console as well. As you can tell, I'm trying to get rid of as much chrome as I can.

I'd just like to say this was a very educational experience. I am a first time Harley owner and I knew nothing about this bike. I did however purchase an owners manual which proved to be priceless.

Changing out the bars wasn't hard at all, just very labor intensive. Had to remove a lot to get the bars out. I didn't need wire extensions however the hand control plugs had to be moved right below the radio. The TBW plug stayed in the factory position. Removing the wires from the (hand control) plugs to internally wire the bars was a very frustration experience for the first 30 minutes which is how long it took me to remove TWO wires! After that, I figured it out and had them out in two minutes. To feed the wires through the bars I used MIG wire (recommended by another forum member) which wasn't hard at all. The hardest part of that was the TBW side because there is that wire (plug) AND the control harness w/cruise control which I added. It took a little finagling, but no biggie. Like I said, while I was already doing the bars, I added cruise control. Don't know why I waited so long!! Wiring the cruise into the harness behind the fairing cap was easy as cake once I got the plug open. It also took me a while to find the diagram in the manual to see exactly which port each wire had to be installed in. Again, no biggie and well worth it as I took a long freeway run today without my right hand on the bars. I bet some people were like, "WTH?" Bleeding the brakes was easy as well. I don't know how some people have problems with that step. It took a friend and I about an hour from start to finish to get a firm brake and that was with trying to figure out how to use that damn mity vac.

I also went with Redline w/shockproof in the trans.

All in all, nothing was too, too hard. Like I said, just very labor intensive. Let me say it again, LABOR INTENSIVE! I'm glad I did it on my own. Learned a lot and can now offer my own advice to people pondering doing the same.

I think my bike was down for about a month. Man, what a terrible thing! I was going through withdrawals! A lot of that was waiting for parts since I just jumped on this without really taking the time to order the parts first. I'm like that!

Thanks to Shawn at DR. VTWIN. He took care of me again.

Oh ya, I forgot to add that the only problem I ran into during this whole process was today when I went on that long freeway run, my right grip came loose. That's a scary thing when your cruising at 80MPH. I believe I just didn't drill the pilot holes deep enough for the set screws to seat. That was the only problem I had!

Looks real good Man! I like those handlebars alot. I think I've found the answer to which apes to put on my SG. I love those PM Heathens too. Always knew I wanted those on my bike... your the only one I've seen around here wearing them. Must be nice to finish "winter mods" in October!

Looks real nice Man!

Ya the Wild1's are on the top of my "best addition" list for sure. It makes the ride so much more different. Listen to people when they say it because it's true.

I don't think I'm the only one here with the PM Heathens, but I can tell you I'm the only one with the PM Heathens in the stealth finish.

I always think it's funny when I use "winter mods" living here in SoCal.

Dude I love your denim. Wanted a denim standard when I bought my SG but couldn't find one.
