Coming from sport bikes I never had one, so when I got my first Harley (this past July), I tried it and did not really like it. Then a month ago or so I got some new boots, that did not fit as well under the Toe shifter so I started using the heal shifter, and now it is just second nature and I do not even realize which I am using and when. So I would say that I like it...

I use it. I wasn't sure about it at first then a good friend who has ridden Harley's forever said "it keeps me from scratching my good boots/shoes." I stuck with it and now just second nature.

There's really no reason NOT to use the heel shifter IMHO.
When I bought my 2007 SG I was riding the HWY and went to up-shift and there was nothing. That's right the heel shifter fell off and I had about 600 miles on the bike. I was able make to my destination and adjusted the toe shifter so if this ever happened again I would be ready. Went to my local HD told them what happened and they replaced it free. That one fell off as well. So I bought after market and installed them and all is well.

Point being, I am glad I adjusted the toe-shifter to accommodate this mishap.

Nope. I don't like heel shifting. I take the heel shifter off. That's why I have 2 extra shifters on my shelf.

Always use it!!! Took a little bit to get used to it when they came out, But it's a lot easier to find neutral and much easier on the boots...JMO
