Never used it at first. A friend with same bike, Ultra Classic EG, told me he couldn't live without it. I started using mine and once I adjusted it lower to the floorboard I found I liked it and now use it pretty much all the time. I have an articulating heel shifter so room for my boot is not an issue. Shifter works perfect no matter what position it's. Once you adjust the height to floorboard of shifter it becomes quite comfortable and a natural way to shift.
I'm a Toe shifter from back when I had to shift on the right side and tickle the carbs! Plus with the big Kury footboards that heel shifter cut out about a third of the length. Heel shifter removal is one of the very first mods I do
