I use mine to find neutral. Also when I get an occasional gout attack, it's a must.

I love it. In fact, I've never used the toe shifter on any of the tourers I've ridden.

How do you shift in 1st gear and how do you downshift?

Never had a heel shifter until I bought my Tour Glide. I adapted to using it right away.

When I replaced the charging system I set it as low as possible, and set the forward control just high enough to get my boot under it if needed. Now that they are positioned for me there is no other way I'd prefer shifting.

I like the feel of moving forward and just lifting my heal after each shift. I seem to get more positive shifts by using it too.

For those who feel it's in the way ... Adjusting it to your positioning may be all you needed to do to make it work correctly.

Question for all those who strip it off their bike before they even tried it .... Why?

The only reason I use mine is to find neutral so it will be going in the parts pile this winter.

Like JohnnyC I have mine st up to use it both ways. My toe shifter is up high enough to stick my boot under to toe shift and my heel shift is set low to so I almost don't have to take my foot off the boards to heel shift!

One of my first mods was to remove the heel shifter. No regrets!
