I never use mine, in fact I hate it. It catches my jeans some and once or twice almost dropped the bike when trying to put my foot down at a stop because of snagging my jeans.
When I got my first Bagger, a 1974 Electra Glide, I hated the heel shifter. It got in the way of the floorboard, (that was new to me too) but I figured I would give it a try. Now when I ride different Harley models that don't have the heel shifter, I find I still try to use the Heel shift that is not there. When I am wearing the Complete Klingon Uniform, I need the heel shift to get out of any gear. The Boots will not fit under the toe shift, even if I wanted to use it.
You are _________ (fill in the blank) than me if you wear flip flops for your rides. But I can't imagine not using the heal shifter. It's been years, but I'll have to try toe-only to see how it feels.
I used it a couple of times but just couldn't get it the habbit of using it regularly and sometimes I would accidently hit it with my heel so I removed it.
