I remove the heel shifter and replace the shift linkage joint with a Heim joint as soon as I get any new bike.

Road Star back in 2001 had it and since it was a one piece unit...I got used to it. Now I use it all the time and would not want to be without it.

I use mine al the time. I wouldn't ride without it. In fact, when I bought the bike, the owner had removed it. I put it on first thing. I rode a honda ACE for several years before moving up to the big boys. My boots have a permanent indent from the upshifting. That's what I like about heel/toe shifting. . . all the shifting is on the bottom of the boot.

Default heel shifter

I use mine all of the time, also. Don't need a big mark on my shoes, and the heel shifter eliminates that.
